*The performance of an energiser and the length of fence it can control can be affected quite dramatically by conditions on the fence itself. 'Good' conditions for best performance would usually mean perfect insulation, no vegetation growth, high quality conductors and excellent earthing etc. In reality this is rarely achieved except in a newly installed line and as the fence ages the conditions of all these factors change.
In 'Bad' conditions of poor insulation or earthing, vegetation on the line or poor quality conductors, the length of line controllable can be divided by 10.
We recommend that in choosing a suitable energiser you should select one that can power up to 10 x the physical length of your fence to allow for this factor. (Ignore the number of lines on the fence).
